Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been in business?

We started Floor It in early 2006.

On what surfaces can you apply your products to?

We usually apply to concrete; however we can also apply our product to VCT tile, rolled linoleum, any type of wood, aluminum, steel, and formica. However, the VCT tile or linoleum must be affixed securely to the floor.

What do you do with pits, cracks, and low areas of a floor?

We use a two part flexible product to fill the cracks and pits. This product can flex with the floor as it expands, contracts, and warps.

For the low areas of a floor, we can use a two part self-leveling product.

How do you prepare the floor?

We use a completely dustless diamond grinding system. We will remove any previous floor coatings, concrete sealants, and oil stains. We don't use water or muriatic acid.

How long does it take until I can walk on my new floor?

You will be able to walk on your floor 2-3 hours after the last coat is applied. It is recommended to keep vehicles, appliances, and other heavy traffic for 24-48 hours after the last coat is applied.

How thick are your floors?

It depends on the type of floor you decide on. Our standard paint chip floor is 18-25 mil. Solid paint chip floors are usually 65-80 mil.

Will the floor be slippery when it is wet?

No, we add a non-slipping polymer or a silica sand for additional traction in the clear topcoat that can be customized to your particular needs.

Why should I NOT use my local building center epoxy kits?

You certainly can. However, we grind down a lot of these floors each year because the product does not adhere well to the floor and is not very durable in a garage application. These kits can hold up OK in low traffic areas.

You are hiring us for our expertise and the knowledge we have gained from our many years in the business. We have the equipment to properly prepare the floor for epoxy application that will help ensure that your new epoxy application will last.

Do you warranty your work?

We guarantee our jobs for one year to five years depending on the floor type you choose for peeling or coating failure. However, if the concrete fails or breaks in any way this will void the floor warranty. Our applications have a nearly 0% fail rate, but in the case there is an issue, we will certainly repair it to your satisfaction.

Why should I hire you?

Because because because because because . . . .because of the wonderful things we does!

Simply put, we pride ourselves on doing business the old-fashioned way by taking care of our customers and relying mostly on referrals generated by satisfied clients to spread the word about our high quality work rather than spending lots of money to attract new customers.
